Pointers

Sometimes I like to stand on my balcony and point at cars as they come around the corner and slow down for the stop sign. I want to be known as the El Camino Real Pointer.

Giant Mammoths

Ξ February 13th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sanity adventures, stuff and junk |

I’ve just returned from a weekend trip to Mammoth, CA. A bunch of slackers all headed up in a van with the intent of hurling ourselves down the face of a mountain on sticks strapped to our feet. Naturally, I got separated and lost thanks to the reliable Maker Effect. I ended up going around the backside of the mountain and falling face first down a run too hard for my skill level. I had a great time doing it though. A little from the ol’ pedia on the ski area:
The Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is a large ski resort located in eastern California on the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Inyo National Forest. The ski area, commonly called simply Mammoth, has the best terrain park according to Transworld Snowboarding Magazine, and is consistently ranked in the top ten ski resorts by Ski Magazine.

Skills Camp 2008

Ξ January 17th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sanity adventures, Family |

I’m prepared and excited for Skills Camp 2008. I’ll be heading into the relative wilderness of Joshua Tree National Park for the weekend for some rock climbing and general fun. This time I have my own stove and tent. I’ve been thinking about backpacking lately, but I don’t own a frame backpack nor do I have the ability to walk for extended periods of time. By extended periods of time I mean I can’t walk more than 5 to 10 minutes on non-flat unpaved ground. Let alone hike for a day. I’m thinking of trying to build up to it though, because I’d really like to go visiting some of the local mountains here, and maybe retrace some of the places my dad visited.

december 2007

It’s been all quiet on this site of late as pointed out by ojuice. I’ve been working a lot more and when I’m not working I try to keep a routine. I tinkered with the armory xml: http://quietdespair.com/alts/. View the source to see what else I’m parsing. So that was kind of fun for a short while. I got a ginormous raise at work, which was exactly what I needed.

Some flips and some rocks

Ξ May 7th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sanity adventures |

I skydove today and did some forward flips. Very fun stuff. I also convinced my sister she wants to do AFF certification with me. Who needs laser eye surgery, anyway? Not her, that’s who.
There will be camping with rock climbing going on next weekend as well. Furthermore, my calendar is very cluttery and busy through June. Probably good for me, but I hate doing things.

A few words that rhyme with Cory

I will be in Joshua Tree National Park, CA this weekend. Hold my calls, as I understand there isn’t any reception there anyway. I sort of wish I had brought back my tent and sleeping bag from Florida. There will be rock climbing, and there will be photographs. With 700 species of vascular plants, Joshua Tree is renowned for its plant diversity. Below are some rock climbing maps. Here are a few words that rhyme with Cory - Gorey, story, allegory..

New Schedule

Ξ March 27th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sanity adventures |

I’ve decided to change my work schedule to more closely follow the schedule of the moon. I will be basing my schedule on the data found here.
On days with a lunar eclipse, I will not show up. Unless there is free soda pop.

Sunday I fall from the sky. I’ll be falling with my sister and others she knows. We’ll see if it can give me a new perspective. tick. i don’t pretend to know the intricacies of my mind. tick. I’ll be departing the ground at 1800 UTC from a place I’d almost never have as a destination, Lake Elsinore CA. tick.
Pay no attention to the ticks. You don’t see them. Hit control + l.

It will leave a lovely scar

I’m having a wonderful time waiting to click over to twenty-five here. It happens to fall on pay day this year, at least. You can’t hide what you hold. You get in the middle. You lift your arms to try to catch a star.
And there may be a reduction in car insurance, but with my luck I wouldn’t bet on it. Unless I was awful at gambling. In which case I would bet on it. I urge you to bet against whatever I’m betting on.
So many things happen at once sometimes its hard to keep track of what to do next. In spite of Annette’s vocal problems since the last one, the colors in the wheel is magnificent to say the least.

Or instead, use this opportunity to talk about how by this point I’m willing to settle for a point and shoot digital camera. Like the Nikon Coolpix S9. However, for just a few dollars more, and I’m not even talking about the price of a dinner out at a moderately priced restaurant.
You probably have the cash in your wallet right now. For those few extra dollars, the S7c could be in your hands, briefly before you wrap it up for me.
No, you know what? I don’t even want it wrapped. I don’t even want it in the box.
It’s not as though I’d cry if a D80 or D50 didn’t magically fall from the sky into my arms. Not very much at any rate.

screw this global warming

Ξ October 31st, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ sanity adventures, News from the front, blind rage, political |

Why do people want to stop or slow global warning? To hell with this planet. lets move to another one. This one is a disaster and not worth saving. Saving it doesn’t save our species from extinction. We need to spread like rabbits over every rock in this galaxy. Our current plan of hiding on this little worthless ball is a sure-fire way to be destroyed.
