Job promotion.

Ξ August 24th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

Its true, i got a job promotion. yay! i will be leaving my job as a help desk team lead to go work on the unix deployment team. This was not an easy decision, as i love the job i currently have. It seemed like my current boss wouldn't talk to me for a few days after accepting the job, which is sad because i love working with him. DD, if you ever want to torment the help desk people… i'm game, sign me up!

I'm excited to learn at my new post though (granted its in the room next door). I will be doing Mac deployment for the most part, with some server and AIX thrown in the mix. Good times, except for the part when they said my i-phone is getting taken back :s boo!

Numara training in Dallas, pt #1

Ξ June 2nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

So i was sent to Dallas for training on Numara Footprints (help desk software). This is the account of my journey ;)

Yay, plane was cramped, but i had all 3 seats to myself, so it wasnt too bad. A little black girl, who was about 1 year old, was sitting in front of me and she was adorable. I played some DS, watched "the boy in the striped pajamas" and ate a sandwich.

I'm staying at a Hilton Hotel, which i will post about next time when i get batteries for my camera.

This brings me to my next picture the soda cabinet. I was sad that i didn't get a free breakfast, but i was pleasantly surprised when i found out my training provided free snacks and food and stuff. They have a whole cabinet full of pop, bagles, fruit, granola bars, cookies, etc.

Here is the view from my hotel window, 5th floor. This place is flat as a pancake. But what really surprised me is that its super dark here. No lights like anywhere, where are all the street lights? Not even the city it lit up. Strange…

The first night after i got here i went to the mall to find some food and a treat for my girls. It was quite the mall, it even had an ice skating rink inside!

I decided to go to 5 guys burger and fries, and the potatoes were from Driggs! I told there girl i was in Driggs last weekend and she just looked at me and continued what she was doing. Hey, i felt special…

Abbey and her tent.

Ξ March 22nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

Tonight we busted out the big foam building thingies. They are foam poles with magnets on the ends, and little balls with holes in them to click together. We used every single piece that would could and built a huge fort. We had all sorts of fun. I would have loved these things as a kid!

Right before she went to bed, she decided that it needed to come down. I wish i had gotten a picture of that, it looked like a tornado that had gone through a trailer park.

Chicken

Ξ March 17th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

Today i decided to try my hand at smoking. I defrosted a few chicken breasts, rubbed them in Grandpa Lynn's seasoning and let them sit for a couple hours. For the grill i set up a smoke pouch filled with cherry wood chips, and a indirect grilling for the chicken. It took a little while to get up to heat and start smoking, so i got a little impatient and turned the heat up. Hey, we were hungry!

Even though i sped it up, it turned out very nice!

For my birthday i held a BBQ. My family, or what part of my family that was in town and that could come, came over and i made Rib Eyes for all of them. I got a few gift cards, some shirts, and a new desk chair from the wifey. Its super nice. I spend a lot of time in it with my current job, so its a nice addition to my new office.

Oh craigslist!

Ξ February 26th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

Since our move to the city, i have discovered things that just wern't possible in my little Idaho town. I have discovered craigslist. Not that i didnt know what it was, but up in Idaho hardly anyone used it. Well, since i noticed people actually put up things that are screaming deals, i have been keeping a close eye on it.

While at work i saw someone offering some free wii games and guitar hero controllers. I e-mail him, and after a back and forth of about 15 e-mails he said that i could have 3 wii games and the 2 guitars for FREE! Ya, all i had to do was come pick them up. He said that his friends didnt like playing it anymore because they got rock band.

I got: Super smash brothers, Guitar Hero 3, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

On my way out, i had all these crazy thoughts about someone luring me out to kill me or rob me or something. All was fine. Hey man, THANKS!

Woot!

Ξ October 24th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

The bag of crap on this woot-off eluded me once again. I had the order screen pulled up for like 5 minutes, but the server kept timing out. Later in the night however i chose to buy a pair of screaming monkeys! I got a purple and an orange one. I may give them to my daughter later.

Wow!

The main man showed up with a nice box for us. Naturally i thought it was my random shirts from Woot!. We got a nice surprise when we opened it up and it was a new faceplate for our wii guitar.

I don't know if everyone gets a faceplate or not, but we got one because we returned our mono disc for a new one.

Snowmobile Moto-Cross into the house.

Ξ January 19th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Family |

We got both our snowmobiles running. A 82 Yamaha Exciter 400, and a 65 Yamaha something… We had willy and Lori over to ride with us. Silly me i let the Wife take the nice machine and head off with it, so i hopped on to keep track of her. We went over a hill but Willy didn't make it, so as i was pulling him over the hill ol Wifey gun it over a mound of snow directly in front of the house. She Flew! She launched over the mound, bailed off, and the machine went of a flight of stairs and slammed into the house. She flew about 15 feet… not a lot for some of you. She on the other hand only had about a 15 foot run at it.

This is her standing by her little boo boo. Her […]
